Why do some wooden shoes have pointy noses?

Many people think that all clogs have pointy noses. That is certainly not the case, most people wear clogs with round noses. Why are the wooden shoes always shown with sharp points? This is probably due to the appearance of the traditional Dutch fishing villages for foreigners. The pointy wooden shoes were originaly invented for fishermen. With the pointy nose you can pull up the fishing nets. Dutch fishing villages like Marken and Volendam have been popular with tourists for a long time. So most foreigners saw a clog with a pointy nose during their trip to the Netherlands. This is probably the reason why many people think that all clogs are pointed.
