Wooden Shoes as a Safety Shoe, Is it Really Safe to Work with Clogs?

The clog has been used for centuries as a safety shoe in the Netherlands. And has proven itself in those years as a perfect foot protector. The safety that a wooden shoe offers is great. For example, clogs are still used in steel factories. They provide protection against the large radiant heat in the rolling mills.

With the introduction of new labor legislation (ARBO) there were doubts as to whether the clog met the modern standards. This has been scientifically researched by research institute TNO. The clog was tested on all contemporary safety requirements, and succeeded with flying colors. Since 1997 clogs have been given the title: "official safety footwear:" a CE (Conformité Européene) safety seal granted to the clog.
